Week 5 Part : Learning about Facebook Data Collecting

Social media platforms have adapted over the years from being for personal connections to now interacting with brands and even buying from the platform itself. A business that uses social media most likely is eager to learn about the interactions that they are having with customers, which Facebook is especially helpful with. There are many tools on Facebook that one can utilize to track the success of their business, without having to be a penny. Two of the best features that Facebook offers for businesses are the ability to see post reach and post engagement.
Post reach allows for the business to see how many people saw the content they posted, therefore giving them insight into their visibility. While expanding post reach organically can be difficult, it is great for those wanting to deduce when the best time to post is. If a business is posting in the middle of the day when people are generally working, it is likely that they may not receive much reach. From this analytics tool, the individual can learn that a better time to post may be in the morning, evening, or even when people are on their lunch breaks. Post reach is also necessary to make sense of any other Facebook metrics, as the others draw data from those numbers. Without post reach, Facebook's analytics tools would not exist.
Post engagement assists in tracking key performance indicators, such as likes, comments, and shares. When businesses want to measure their success online, this is often what they look at. It is important as it can directly measure the success/popularity of the posts one shares. Furthermore, post engagement shows what the business should continue to post about or market to their consumers. From posts that encourage sales to those that want to give a little behind the scenes of the day to day business life, post engagement shows which content some like versus those that do not do as well.
Facebook Insights is the analytics tool that business owners need to be able to successfully market themselves with limited, if any, help from outside companies. The tracking that Insights gives the business owner can also help with the adjustment of determining demographics. For instance, those who react to posts often enough are deemed "Top Fans." This allows the business to get to know their customer base a little better and can help in marketing more towards them. Facebook insights also give the business owner to observe trends over a periods of time, which helps encourage successful business practices.
